Blessings and Hardwork!!!

Hello All,

I have somehow made my way back over here to Germany to play basketball against other professional players. Well I know that only God has continued to find ways to bless me and show me how blessed I am, so I say THANK YOU!!!! I flew from Atlanta to Frankfurt 8 hr 45 minute trip, then had a layover in Frankfurt for 2 hr 30 minutes before I flew for 30 minutes from Frankfurt to Osnabruck. I didn't get to sleep much on the plane, but I guess I got enough because I felt refreshed when I stepped off the plane, I guess that had alot to do with it being cold here in Germany though (wow)!!!! After grabbing something to eat, I went to my hotel room and took a 2 hr nap, and then got ready for practice with my tournament team TVI Ibbenburen..... well long story short nothing has changed but the day...jump shot still wetter than ever, and my legs felt really good, so I of course flew around a bit :). Well for now I am getting ready to host a mini clinic for Over and Beyond Basketball LLC, right here in Germany and again I thank God for these many blessings and opportunities that he continually blesses me with. Game start up tomorrow morning, stay tuned for more, and thanks for all the support from people that love the game of basketball, support my efforts, and my well being.

Stay Blessed,

Omar Collington

LOOKING FOR NO EXCUSES!!!!!

Hello Readers,

There comes a point in time in life, and your basketball career, when you just say enough is enough. I am tired of living this kind of lifestyle, I am tired of being stereotyped, I am tired of not being given the opportunity to succeed, I am tired of not making shots, I am tired of losing, I am just plain sick and tired. So then the next question is how do you go about changing all of these things? You have to want better for yourself, you have to get over old habits, and selfish ways, to reach out to someone or someones that has been through the struggle, and want to learn how to be better, and intake some of there great qualities and make them your own. From making excuses, to not making excuses, is as simple as giving effort in whatever it is you are trying to pursue, or accomplish, having a positive attitude in the most harsh situations (finding something good to build upon) and using that as motivation to want to continue to go down that road of positivity and success. Yea some might say that reality kicks in and not everything is peaches and cream, but at the same time life is what you make it, and you can control your actions and how you view things, these are 2 keys that we do possess that can lead to doors of opportunity and self satisfaction. To summarize the point I'm trying to get across is to just believe in you and always make a way to be positive, and in turn you can change the outcome of your life as well as your basketball output.....negativity leads to negative thoughts and actions....positivity leads to positive thoughts and actions.......NO MORE EXCUSES.

Hope that this touches some of you and makes sense, for more inspiration please send me topics that you would like to have elaborated upon and I will try to help continue to aspire success and positivity.

Have a blessed one,

Push Over and Beyond!!!!

Happy 2012 readers,

This is a new year, a new day, and hopefully a new you. We all go into every year wanting to be better than the previous year right? Well I hope that by motivation, and hopes of being a better you, that your new year resolutions are still strong and ongoing. Now for the student athlete, its not about the attention, points, or all the other things that student athletes thrive on to be successful. Have you done anything to make you proud of yourself, have you done anything that nobody needs to praise you for?, Have you had self satisfaction with who you are behind close doors with no one watching? If not, I hope that you realize that others do not matter if they aren't supporting you to do well for the right reasons.

Take this opportunity, this new year, to find yourself in the spectrum of being a student athlete that pushes him/herself for self satisfaction, for positive reinforcement, for levels of maximum potential by not submitting to peer pressure, or allowing yourself to be taken away from what really matters. Prioritizing what's important to you and your career, is a way to begin to create short term as well as long term goals for yourself, and future plans. We are all young at one point and time in our lives, but in likes of wanting a great future, we have to prepare now, don't wait til later to do better, because the same opportunity might not be available for you when you want it to be, but controlling your effort in whats important is something that you can do something about now in preparation for steps in the right direction.

Happy New Years,

Love and Basketball

Hello readers,

Where has the love for the game gone? What happened to the days, when you would walk by the park and see 25, 30 people waiting anxiously to play basketball, what happened to those days? It might just be my area, but I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it seems like the love for basketball is dying. Is it because children don't have enough positive influences in there lives to be pushed towards something positive, or is it because headphones, and Playstation 3 has taken over? Basketball like many other sports are avenues, to many different life opportunities. Through sports, you learn the value of Family, Teamwork, the notion of failure but only in the Loss column, you learn to fight, compete, push, face, lead, come together, in the settings of a sports team. Not only should you love your sport, but your sport loves you, because through God we have all been blessed to do whatever that sport may be. Not everyone can go on and be successful in there perspective careers, but you are successful in that you are viewed by others in a respectable manner, due to the lessons learned through your sport.

My mission is to get my community excited about basketball again, and help create many success stories in the upcoming generation, through basketball and mentoring, Over and Beyond Basketball LLC, is a blessing to me, and hoping that it is a blessing to many others, as we try to help develop individuals, who aspire to be great people in the future, its not all about basketball, its about becoming someone of value, through all the things you learn on the way. Be blessed, and work hard. Love your sport, and it will love you back.

Love and Basketball,

Back against the wall!!!

Hello readers,

There are times in our lives when we feel like our back is against the wall, nothing is going well for you, you feel like no one is there to help or support you, and you just feel lonely. Most of us handle this situation the best we know how, which is become defensive, or insecure about whatever the situation may be. You feel like you have done everything you can do, but then ask yourself, have you reached out to God for guidance, strength, courage, deliverance? Life is full of ups and downs, trials and tribulations, good and bad times, its what we do as individuals, and whom we decide to reach out to, that helps us deal with those situations. Stepping up and accepting a challenge, is the 1st step to over coming adversity, tackle it head on with no fears because you know God is with you. There is no greater power. There should never be so much attention focused on negativity, because it is apart of life, ultimately if we could all be happy and just live life, I'm sure for the most part that most of us would want that kind of lifestyle. Well I say in reference of Invictus, "I am master of my fate", decide how you want to go about life, are you wanting to be a negative person, or are you wanting to be a positive person. You are who you surround yourself with. Put yourself in a position where you can succeed, rather than put yourself on a path with the wall being the end, remember you have ultimate control on how you live your life, nobody else can make you do something you don't want to do. So accept who you are and know that you never have to have your back against the wall, if you don't want it to be there.

Positivity, and all the things associated with that term, will help keep lead you to a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Be your own person!!!

Never ending Journey

Hello readers,

From my posts via facebook and twitter, some of you have had the opportunity to know in which direction my career is turning, if not here you go:

I apologize to all my familly, friends, and fans because I am no longer playing professional basketball due to personal reasons that I don't care to share over facebook. I've prayed on my situation and realize that I am needed elsewhere, versus being a professional in the ABA, with that being said, I have decided to retire from professional basketball, focus on my family, coaching, and my company Over and Beyond Basketball. Thanks to all of you that have supported me throughout my career as a professional, it has meant the world to me and helped me in a variety of ways. I wish you all the best and again I apologize to any one that I may have disappointed in my decision.

As a coach I will still be associated with basketball, and through my company, so if you would like to follow me and the journey of my basketball life, please subscribe to my fan page, and company page(Over and Beyond Basketball LLC)

Thank you to all for being the best part of my career!!!

#BasketballNeverStops

This decision has been made with God's blessing, my heart, mind, and soul. I am needed and I have a job in showing how great God is, and it is shown in many different avenues. I have been blessed way beyond my imagination, and its my honor to be able to share Gods will. I hope that you all continue to have faith in God and yourselves, and remember that basketball is something that is to be used to better you as a person, and not to be abused. Work hard, work smart, and stay blessed.

Trust in God and yourself!!!!

Hello readers,

Cold, is a lonely, in the context that I'm describing it in. Cold is turning a shoulder to someone in need, cold is being selfish when you have no reason to be, cold is not allowing people to see how good life can be.

Warm, describes someone that has a heart. Warm is extending a hand to someone in need if you are able to help, warm is doing something special for someone in need, warm is sharing blessings and gods grace with others around.

There is an understanding that life is and will always be that way, full of warm and cold people, the important thing is how you deal with one or the other. The answer to this question is opinionated, so with that being said my answer is my opinion but it makes sense. If you realize that you have God on your side, and you believe in yourself as a person, you aren't affected in a negative manner by either connotation, because it is outside of the relationship you have with God and yourself. Negativity grows if you let it, don't give it a chance. Positivity is something that doesn't come easy, but then again nothing good comes easy, to an extent!!!

Be blessed, follow him, and follow faith!!!
